Set in the upper reaches of the Yoda Lake wilderness, a small eco-cultural retreat is taking shape at the edge of Sri Lanka’s Yala National Park. The sanctuary is built entirely around the natural contours of the land, the roaming wildlife, and the rhythms of local village life — coexisting beautifully with them, rather than standing apart.

Vapi Eco Lodge is committed to delivering exceptional eco-cultural hospitality experiences that connect local and international travelers with the natural beauty, wildlife, heritage, and authentic village life of the Yala region. Through sustainable tourism practices, personalized guest service, traditional Sri Lankan culture, and locally sourced products, we create memorable experiences while protecting the environment, empowering local communities, and contributing to the long-term well-being and prosperity of the villages we serve.
The land we call home
Yala is one of Sri Lanka's great wild places — dry-season grassland, dense scrub jungle, and villages that have lived alongside its wildlife for generations. Vapi Eco Lodge is being built into that setting, close enough to the park to feel its rhythms and close enough to the village to share in its daily life.
We're currently expanding the property — new guest and service spaces are under construction — while we shape the lodge around a simple idea: hospitality that gives back at least as much as it takes, to the land and to the people who call this region home.
Yoda Lake sits at the heart of that experience — quiet mornings on still water, canoe rides at first light, and elephants and water birds gathering at its edges as the day cools.
